Documentary title graphics and poster
Send and Receive is a documentary by Dominique Keller exploring the evolving role of the postal service — not just as a system of delivery, but as a vital human connection point within communities.
I was brought onto the project while the film was still being cut, allowing the title graphics and poster to be shaped in close conversation with the documentary’s themes. While postal services are changing in many parts of the world, the heart of the film focuses on communication, care, and the quiet relationships that form between postal workers and the people they serve — particularly those who are isolated or at risk of being forgotten.
The typography leans into warmth and familiarity. I chose a cursive typeface inspired by the handwriting of the generation most closely associated with traditional mail — personal, expressive, and inherently human. This choice reflects the intimacy of handwritten communication and the sincerity of the people at the centre of the film. Directional arrows are woven into the design system as a visual metaphor for the film’s core theme: sending and receiving — messages, care, attention, and presence.
Both the title graphics and poster were designed to feel nostalgic without sentimentality, emphasizing genuine community, quiet dedication, and the idea that connection is often maintained by people who care deeply — whether or not it’s written into their job description.
The film later received multiple awards at CIFF 2025, and I’m grateful to have been part of its journey.
